The Rocky Mountain Buddhist Center is an autonomous center of the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order, a worldwide Buddhist movement dedicated to expressing the Buddha’s teaching in ways appropriate to the modern world.

Most of the activities of Rocky Mountain Friends of the Western Buddhist Order are held at the Rocky Mountain Buddhist Center, located at 540 Second Street West near downtown Missoula, Montana, USA. In addition to rooms for meditation and meetings, the Center also has a bookstore and a library of books and tapes. Instruction in meditation and Buddhism is given regularly, at levels appropriate for beginners as well as experienced practitioners.

Sangha Night is the most important weekly event at the center. Sangha means “spiritual community” and refers to all those who are striving to put the Buddhist principles of awareness and love into practice in their lives. Anyone who has been to Beginners’ Night or a Meditation Class at the center is freely invited to come to Sangha Night, where we explore different topics and their connection to life and practice every Wednesday evening. Please see the Programs page for the Sangha Night schedule.

The Center also offers intermittent classes, retreats, talks, and other opportunities to practice. For current events please check our Programs page.
